Today we have the pleasure of meeting up with author to talk about Revenge Of The Wolf (, Skyler Patterson, 94 pages) a tale of paranormal romance, action and horror.

Author Q&A | Synopsis | Teaser | About the Author | Tour Stops

Hello Skyler, thank you for joining us on BooksChatter.
Okay, hi! I am Skyler Patterson. I am an author writing ebooks since 2013.
What was the inspiration for Revenge Of The Wolf?
"I knew that I wanted to do a book about action and adventure.  I wanted to do a book about a shape-shifter.  However I did not want it to be a contemporary tale.  I love stories from long ago or medieval times.  I also love fantasy fiction.  I love stories of fantasy/action /romance and horror, told against those backdrops.  I had never heard of a story about a young shape-shifter told against the backdrop of early settled colonial times.

However the true inspiration for this story was that gorgeous cover!"
Ah!  I was just going to ask you about that!  Can you tell us about your cover for Revenge Of The Wolf - why you chose that concept and who the artist is.
"What a difference an awesome book cover makes!  I found that cover at: SelfPubBookCovers.com.  I do not know the name of the artist.  Bloody goooorgeouus!

That cover is the reason for the story being what it is.

You may not believe it but I had envisioned ROTW being more of an action story with no romance. I knew it would be about a man whose woman was murdered.  The story was just going to be him killing the man who killed her.

I had a bad writers block. I then began to search for a cover for the story.  So here I was looking for an e-book cover for a story I had not yet written!  I was going to choose a cover showing a werewolf stalking through the forest.

I took a break and came back to the story months later.  I began to look through more covers. Then I came across that cover!  It was gorgeous!  My jaw dropped!  And then I knew it! This was a love story!  The crimson coffin and the beautiful undead woman!

Once I decided to make the woman un-dead I knew I had a story!  And then I wrote the rest of the tale! "
How much of yourself is reflected in this book, and how?
"I put all of myself in every book I write.  All of my books are about some person who has fallen in some way.  They are down and must find a way to rise up.  Or they have lost themselves and must find themselves again.  Justice Sorrowfell seemed to have everything until he lost the woman that he loved.

I will not lie in my life I too feel sometimes downtrodden and sometimes life seems like an impossible daunting journey.  Yet I soldier on.  I put a piece of myself in every protagonist I create.  Such as The last Kraken’s Captain Slaymore seaborne. The aging retired England seafarer who wants to live another sea adventure just one.  More. Time."
Why should we read Revenge Of The Wolf and what sets it apart from the rest? What makes this book unique?
"Because my stories can take people on interesting journeys.  The type of fantasy fiction that can help one escape reality and go someplace else for a few hours.  And readers will never have to wait for years for my books!  I have many stories to be told..

This story is unique because one of the dead characters returns and has a part in the tale.  Because the woman was killed that was supposed to be the end.  But it’s not.  And then I had my theme. “all people do die but true love cannot be killed!  Everyone has seen stories about shape-shifters but I cannot recall one with young people in the early settled times.  I also do love all things England even though I am from New Yawk."
Can you tell us something quirky about Revenge Of The Wolf, its story and characters?
"Yes!  I had never written a romance book before!  I can only say that it was a daring thing to do for me.  Yet I am the type of person who is very impulsive.  I will jump into something quickly.  Especially when others say “I don’t think you can do it”!  Hence my new career as an author.

Okay Til Tillingsly is written in the personality of one of my old bosses ha!  He was Hungarian, he yelled and loved to drink!"
Who would you recommend Revenge Of The Wolf to and what should readers be aware of (any warnings or disclaimers)?
"Everyone!  This book is pretty tame.  Nothing over-raunchy and almost no curses!  I had to walk a fine line to do that!  I let the reader use their own imagination as to the sensuality that is occurring.  So no disclaimers!

Everyone should read my books .

The only books that would need disclaimers would be my “the book of swords “series, due to the over raunchy game of thrones, styled sexuality.  I say that because I think that I have a story for everyone.  I have many more stories to tell And I plan on writing tales in all genres: Love stories, horror, comedy, science fiction, westerns, and even self- help.  I do not want to be pegged into one genre.

My first Ebook was “the book of swords”(book 1) which is on Amazon.  That book was like a Game of thrones type of book about everyone in a world called Skygard doing whatever they could do to get a magical sword.

The next book I put out was “The last kraken”(book 1) (Amazon) a tale about a leviathan octopus running amok in 1800’s England And now my revenge of the wolf (book 1 amazon and barnes and noble) a romantic /horror /action tale."
If you could / wished to turn Revenge Of The Wolf into a movie, who would be your dream team?
"Wow!  Everyone who reads this book tells me that they feel that this book would make an awesome movie.  They also tell me that my writing style somehow makes them see a movie in this story.  I will say this.  I would love to see this tale on the silver screen!

Okay if that can somehow come to be, here would be my dream cast:

Justice Sorrowfell: Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones)!
Angelica Innocenta: the beautiful Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, Wolf of Wall Street)!
Inspector Nolan Noluck: Dominic Cooper (Lincoln Vampire Hunter)!
Inspector Wilhelm Dogood: Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones’ Bronn)!
And the grizzled one- handed wolf hunter, who has a bigger part in the next book Til Tillingsly Actor Jeff Bridges (True Grit, Seventh Son)!

A director: I would go with the king of dark/gothic cinema Tim Burton and the quirky, edgy action filmaker Timur Bekmambetov (Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Wanted)!

For locations it could only be the dark/glorious woodlands of jolly ol' England!"

What is your writing process?

"Okay my writing style is unorthodox.  Once I know what type of story I want to tell, I will begin with securing the title.  I copyright it.  I will then look for types of covers for my ebook.  Then I begin to write the story.  However I will only begin to work on a tale that I know would make a great ebook.  I then will begin to find the hook for the tale and search for a theme.  Next I envision the types of action and adventure I can create with the tale.  I then will go through the story in my mind.  I will look for the type of story arc I can make, for the main character and the supporting characters.  I will seek out action set pieces and emotional plot twists that will help me reinforce the tales theme.

Once I know those things I begin to write the story.  Sometimes stories come together quick and sometimes I face that dreaded writer’s block!  I have found that I can write stories quicker without using drafts.  I write all of my books on the fly.  I sit down in a quiet place and go scene by scene in my mind what would be happening in a chapter.  I will decide how that chapter will move the story forward.  I then grab my laptop and write the chapter.  By writing like that I eliminate the time taken from copying from drafts.  Also drafts create havoc when you suddenly come up with a new idea.  By writing freestyle I can add new ideas directly as they come up.  My friends have told me that my writing regimen is insane!

Revenge of the wolf took me a long time to write because it gave me writer’s block.  Most books don’t do that to me.  All I had in the beginning was that opening paragraph that is in the ebook..  I then started the book off with action and angelica’s murder and then jumped into revenge killings.  Then I stopped and wrote like 6 (yes 6) other ebooks  When I came back months later and looked at the manuscript and the cover I had chosen to seek to buy.  Then it hit me!  I needed more of the romance and courting!  That way I could show why he was so pissed off when she gets killed.  I knew then that I needed a romantic cover.  And what a gorgeous cover I found!  When I saw the woman laying in that crimson box I knew!  This was a love story!  And she was undead!  The rest of the story wrote itself!"
What is in store next?
"Next!  More ebooks for Amazon and Barnes & Noble.  I intend on releasing at least 5 ebooks this fall.  All will be action and fantasy fiction.

Up first book 2 and the conclusion of Captain Slaymore Seabornes’s deep sea adventure in “The Last Kraken” series.  It will be called “THE LAST KRAKEN UNLEASHED”!  (In sept) I will bring that to you!

Next the second book in the ROTW series!  It will be called REVENGE OF THE WOLF (Love is hell!)  It is completed and I am now editing it!  In my opinion it is better than the first book.  It will have more Angelica, more Jean, Hans Freedkell, Hellga, more of inspectors Nolan and Wilhelm and new characters!  More action/paranormal romance/horror and more Justice Sorrowfell.

Then it’s maybe a western (Cowboys and Indians), book 1 in a YA action romance trilogy and a futuristic science fiction YA romance /action, book 1 of a trilogy!"
And as a final quirky thing, to get to know you a little bit better... do you have a pet or something that is special to you that you could share with us?
"What bloody good fun! [Below is] a selfie of my beloved gateway pet laptop!  I even sleep with the bloody thing!

LOL I am certainly no better! I sleep with my Kindle Fire under my pillow!
I can be found at skypatt40@Aol.com, Amazon authorpage, Goodreads, and Facebook.  Let’s get that movie made!
